I’m a public radio journalist based in Olympia, Washington, with over a decade of experience doing local beat reporting, audio reporting and audio editing.

Currently, I’m the State Government Reporter for KUOW and KNKX leading coverage on Washington’s legislature.

Before that, I was the Race and Equity Reporter at CapRadio in Sacramento, CA where I covered topics like how redistricting can make getting city resources tougher for non-English speaking communities, an investigation in tandem with Reveal and The California Newsroom into the unequal distribution of the Paycheck Protection Loan program during the pandemic and a few stories on Asian American history in the region.

My proudest achievement while there was Mid Pacific, a CapRadio original podcast about Asian American identity in California that I pitched, reported and hosted.

I also spent some time as a General Assignment Reporter at WCAI, the local NPR member station for the Cape and Islands on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. While I was there, I won a regional Edward R. Murrow award for my coverage on declining public school enrollment on the Outer Cape.

I’ve been a freelance audio reporter in Oakland, where I contributed stories to KQED, KALW, EdSource and Marketplace. In a previous life, I was a print reporter covering education at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans. I’m originally from New York, and have a master’s from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, and a bachelor’s from Johns Hopkins University.
